Become a Mentor for MAMA Youth Project trainees and alumni by joining our unique and rewarding Two-Way Mentoring Programme in collaboration with ScreenSkills.
We welcome media industry professionals from a wide variety of roles and genres, whether you are part of a large or small organisation, production company or freelance, you can help make a difference to the career journey of MYP trainees from under-represented backgrounds and young people with limited opportunity.

Former MAMA Youth Project trainee Researcher Raidah Rahman said - "Having a mentor has been so encouraging as apart from the MYP family, I felt I had no other connections to the industry whatsoever during the pandemic which was very isolating.  I expected to get some advice but got so much more, she has given me a great insight into the media as a freelancer and has opened my eyes to the possibility of the technical side of television, creating potential opportunities for me in this area too."

Our established Two-Way scheme provides a chance to give back to the industry and experience the mutual benefits of exchanging perspectives around improving diversity and inclusion within teams. Thanks to bespoke matching, the programme can close the knowledge gap on both sides and provide a better understanding of unconscious bias.

Mentors are invited to commit to a 6 month programme, during which 4-6 sessions will take place in a mutually convenient format with goals or action pledges recorded to provide reflection of development throughout the process.

In addition to expanding networks, mentoring will develop performance, leadership skills and promote dialogue for all involved. You can help create a community of peer-to peer support at a time when it’s never been more important to engage in positive industry-led conversations.
