Stay with MYP they’re really great, helpful and supportive. You’ve come this far why stop trying?"
Before MYP I was studying communication and journalism at university. Then I took a TV module and decided I wanted to be in TV instead. I heard about MYP through my cousin. She sent me the application form and I was actually rejected the first time I applied because I was still in university. But I applied a second time and got in. While at MYP I learned a lot about TV and learned I love casting, researching and was able to produce a lot of items. I was able to interview and protégé with Dwayne Tryumf, Alisha Dixon and Bridget Kelly.
My contract as an Office Runner at Twelve Yard Production ended last week. I was responsible for helping manager directors, the production team, the development team and I ran errands for everyone. I also sorted through the DVD library, a lot of DVDs. I also helped with the talent and did lunch runs for Sue Perkins and Dale Winton. I definitely enjoyed my time there, I was sad when they said they couldn’t renew my contract.
At MYP I learned not to shy away from hard work and I grew in confidence as well. We got a lot of responsibility which was nice. I really grew up at MAMA Youth. If I hadn’t done MYP I would probably be in Birmingham or Leicester still working at Debenhams. Next I’ll hopefully continue in TV production. I would really like to become a researcher and I really like production as well. Becoming production secretary would be great too, I guess I’ll have to wait and see.
To those having trouble getting in the industry I’d have to say keep applying, stay with MYP they’re really great, helpful and supportive. You’ve come this far why stop trying?
