''MYP has provided me with a good solid foundation to build up my skills and to make the most of the right opportunities that come my way.''

Jade Joseph graduated from the scheme November 2013. She is currently working as a Junior Editor in QC Versioning.

"Prior to joining MYP, I had just finished my degree in Media Production. I thoroughly enjoyed the editing aspect of my course, and worked on my own projects filming and editing various events. When I came across MYP on Twitter, I felt that it would be a great opportunity to gain some real hands on experience in the industry. I was particularly keen to improve my editing skills to a Broadcast standard.

My experience at MYP has been truly amazing. I have gained fundamental skills which I never learned at University. I am proud of all my accomplishments including gaining my first TV credit as an Editor. I formed a great and long lasting relationship with my brilliant mentor at Sky and met some wonderful people who shared the same goals and ambitions as me.

Being at MYP was also very challenging as it is a very demanding role, requires working long hours and meeting tight deadlines. I believe that this has strengthened some of my core skills including time management and working under pressure with a variety of people. I have also enhanced my communications skills through networking, team meeting and presentation. Ultimately, this has helped to boost my confidence.

Before going to MYP I found it hard to get an interview within the media industry .After the experience at MYP I started to get invited to more interviews and then went on to undertake a work placement at Sky as a Trainee Editor, which led to further freelance work during the year. I have also freelanced at the BBC and I currently work as a Junior Editor in QC versioning. MYP has provided me with a good solid foundation to build up my skills and to make the most of the right opportunities that come my way.

My advice to other young people starting at MYP would be to take every opportunity that they can, learn as much as they can and to ensure that they utilise the resources available to develop their skills. Last but not least, they should enjoy every moment being at MYP as it will go by before they know it". - June 2015
