The awards ceremony took place on the 11th of October 2016, it was hosted by ITV News presenter Charlene White at the Hilton Park Lane and was attended by more than 500 business leaders. Now in their 10th year, the Awards celebrate outstanding practice, innovation and dedication to race equality and inclusion in UK workplaces.
MAMA Youth Project won the Developing Talent Award, which is for a programme or initiative which can be actively linked to developing the skills and talents of the BAME workforce and/or widening the talent pool for future leaders within an organisation.
Sandra Kerr OBE, Race Equality Director, Business in the Community, said: “Congratulations to MAMA Youth Project on winning the Developing Talent Award at the Business in the Community Race Equality Awards 2016. They have shown outstanding leadership in this area and are ensuring BAME employees are represented at all levels within their organisation, developing the diverse talent they attract and strengthening the pipeline for the future. MAMA Youth Project should be extremely proud of this achievement and I hope other organisations will follow their lead.”
Guests heard from Dr Nicola Millard, Customer Experience Futurologist at BT who spoke about the importance of diversity of thought in future work, Adrian Joseph, Chair of the Business in the Community Race Equality Leadership Team, and Sandra Kerr OBE, Race Equality Director, Business in the Community.
