MAMA Youth Project is delighted to announce the appointment of Kevin Duala as the charity’s first VIP Patron. MYP, the charity committed to getting young people from traditionally under-represented backgrounds employed in the broadcast and media industries is proud to be collaborating with the high profile television presenter.
Kevin’s decision to support MAMA Youth reflects both his passion for the industry and his dedication to coaching and mentoring. An accomplished broadcast professional with 25 years experience in the business, Kevin is currently a regular reporter on BBC 1’s The One Show where he can be seen covering a wide variety of stories.
Kevin remains popular with kids and parents from his time hosting the long running successful children’s programme Blues Clues for Nickelodeon and Channel 4. Originally from Liverpool, he trained and qualified in dance and drama appearing in a multitude of TV shows and the hit musical Starlight Express. He has since presented programmes covering property, cooking, sport and almost everything in between! Having just finished filming a 2nd series of the BBC 1 daytime programme Britain’s Secret Charity Cheats he is about to begin a 4th series of Health: Truth or Scare.
Kevin is currently completing his life coach training and is dedicated to study and self- improvement and will undoubtedly be a great ambassador for the charity, “I’m very excited about the chance to work, motivate, help, guide, enthuse, listen to and encourage the young and up and coming talent who are learning about this hard, wonderful business of TV with the MAMA Youth Project”, commented Kevin who divides his time between TV commitments with giving talks to schools and colleges about his 3 C’s, ‘Confidence’, ‘Commitment’ and ‘Continuity’.
MAMA Youth Project CEO, Bob Clarke whose lifelong commitment to helping others has made him a media hero champions Kevin’s values and believes their dedication to giving young people life skills and production training while bringing diversity to the broadcast industry are closely aligned, “This is wonderful news that Kevin has decided to become our first VIP Patron. He already strongly believes in giving back and mentoring young people from challenging backgrounds so we are a perfect fit”, said Bob.
Kevin who also works as a facilitator for Seetec Justice providing support for young offenders using his empathy, motivational and communication skills to guide mentees on to a better path will provide a huge boost to the work of the MAMA Youth project who have been billed as ‘employing the unemployables.’
Kevin added, “Having spent a day with MAMA Youth Project already I can feel the energy and passion. I can’t wait to start working with the creative prospects that MYP has brought together. No question goes unanswered.” #Grateful
