MAMA Youth alumni, Natalie Methu, writes about her incredible journey to becoming a production secretary for Wall To Wall, a Warner Bros UK production company.
"Before MAMA Youth Project I had graduated with a degree in English Language and had started working at the London Dungeon whilst I figured out how to tackle the television industry. I knew that I was lacking experience, especially with my chosen degree, but I remained hopeful. I searched for opportunities that would allow me to learn as well as gain experience, however after months my searches were leading to nothing. Working within the television industry seemed to grow further and further out of reach, that is until I came across the MAMA Youth Project.
My time at MYP as a trainee researcher was truly life changing. I was given the resources and the opportunity to develop crucial skills needed to succeed in an industry that once seemed completely inaccessible to someone like me. Throughout my journey, I learned how to remain resilient, consistent and positive in adverse situations, which allowed me to bring out the best in myself and in my work. On top of that I was able to work closely with an amazing group of diverse and incredibly talented individuals, who were consistently positive and supportive – even during the most challenging times where I felt exhausted and on the verge of giving up." - April 2016
